At this point in the novel Swenson is obsessed with Angela. Her stories that seem to connect directly to him and her mysterious past makes him wonder a lot about who she really is and how real are her stories. This obsession led to him almost using the parent teacher conference as a way to non-creepily
Get information on her. The mother seems oblivious throughout the conference but the father seems very annoyed or kinda in a rush to leave. As he leaves he makes the same mistake with the door like Angela did and Swenson comes to the conclusion that he is in fact Angela’s father.
