Class Discussion on “Blue Angel”

In the last few pages of the section assigned, I think Prose is hinting that an intimate relationship will begin to flourish between Swenson and Angela in the next chapters. At first Swenson was hesitant about giving Angela advice on her novel but as he read a part of her novel that dealt with a student having a crush on a teacher striked his interest. As he comes to an end he realizes that this is a student’s work and questions when Angela has written the story as he may think the story may be about her and her possible feelings toward Swenson. He then calls his editor in hopes that her work is plagiarized and not a factual story as it could be possible that Angela is confessing her feelings toward Swenson, and Swenson wants to prevent stepping over that student-teacher boundary as sexual harassment is a big topic going around in the college and he also doesn’t want to hurt his wife that he dearly loves and admires.
