Welcome to the blog for Prof. John Talbird's English 102 class. The purpose of this site is two-fold: 1) to continue the conversations we start in class (or to start conversations before we get to class) and 2) to practice our writing, reading, and thinking on a weekly basis in an informal setting.
Chris, remember what I said about the word "boring"? (See the section on the blog on the syllabus.) I'm not sure this is a very helpful response (esp. since the assignment is not for your entertainment anyway). Can you say something about what is "predictable" in the novel? Can you define what a "chick flick" is? (It's my sense that they usually have female leads, not male ones accused of sleeping w/ their students.) Or how is it like a soap opera? Aren't soap operas usually set in chic locales or hospitals, not private colleges? Spend some more time thinking about this.
